Hello, my name is Jeff Hume. I am a new media producer specializing in website creation, audio and video podcast production, online strategy and social media. I have a passion for using the Internet to create and distribute information in a changing landscape. Be it entertainment or information of societal importance, I wish to create or enable content that is innovative and meaningful to individuals and to society as a whole.
I am currently employed by CBC as an Associate Interactive Producer where I have worked on websites for shows such as George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, Dragons Den among others My work with CBC includes a broad range of responsibilities including coding, content management, determining strategy, creating audio, video and written content and more.
I am a graduate of the MA in Media Production program at Ryerson University, where I focused on new media, society and citizen journalism. Prior to Ryerson, I also graduated with a BA from the University of Toronto having taken a joint specialist degree in political science and history.
My first encounter with creating online content and platforms came in 2000 when I joined a team of young students who had created Bizcents, a website intended to provide business advice and information to youth. While Bizcents eventually faded after some success, I continued to pursue online content, setting up a blog in 2001 and immersing myself in the world of technology and the web. In 2005, I co-created A Foot In The Crease, one of the first ever hockey podcasts. With worldwide success, A Foot In The Crease is currently in its sixth season and to-date has produced over 230 episodes.
More information on my other projects can be found on the Projects page.
